Tire Description

The Ecsta MX XRP (KU15) is Kumho's Max Performance Summer self-supporting run flat tire developed exclusively for the drivers of C-5 Corvettes to provide temporary continuing mobility in the case a puncture allows complete air pressure loss. While the Ecsta MX XRP (Extended Runflat Performance) tires are designed to blend dry road performance, wet traction and the convenience run-flat mobility provides, they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. The Ecsta MX XRP molds an advanced silica tread rubber compound into a directional tread pattern that features massive, stable blocks to increase cornering traction and steering response, while four large circumferential and multiple directionally aligned lateral grooves resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. Internally, the two wide steel belts are reinforced by spirally wound nylon cap plies to provide excellent strength, uniform ride quality and Y-speed rated capability while the sidewalls are tuned to resist lateral deflection and to provide handling control and feedback. Rubber run-flat inserts are molded on the inside of both of the tire's sidewalls to provide temporary continuing mobility in the event of a puncture causing complete loss of air pressure.

MUCH lower noise and MUCH smoother ride compared to Goodyear originals. Thought maybe the cornering or stopping wouldn't be that great, but was plesantly surprised that both are excellent. Doesn't hurt that they look great and cost so much less than the Goodyear tires also. These are really great tires. I couldn't be happier. I'm sure you can't find a better value in a run flat tire. Only time will tell how they hold up, but my initial satisfaction is 100%. This vette is actually my wife's car and she was completely amazed and thrilled at the difference (she kept going on and on about how much she loved how the car was so much quieter and the ride was so much smoother - each little bump didn't rattle her teeth like before, etc. etc.), so now she thinks I'm a tire genius or something.
