The eco Solus HM (High Mileage) (KR22) is Kumho Tire's Standard Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of family coupes, sedans and minivans. The eco Solus HM is designed to offer a combination of extra long wear, low noise and good ride with competent handling and enhanced all-season traction, even in light snow. The eco Solus HM features Kumho's traction-enhancing advanced carbon compound molded into a computer-designed symmetric tread pattern that combines independent shoulder blocks, intermediate ribs and a continuous center rib to provide predictable handling, straight-line tracking and low noise. Four circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning and full-depth sipes, effective for the life of the tire, cut through water film to enhance wet grip and all-season traction. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts to provide strength and is reinforced by nylon belt edge layers (normally only found in high speed/high performance tires), to enhance durability and stability. A polyester cord body provides a smooth ride and spirally wound single strand beads provide more precise tire-to-rim fit to reduce the possibility of vibration.

This is the third set of tires I've had on this Corolla (OEM GY and BF G... were the others) and these are by far my favorite. The OEM tires were bad in every way other than noise. They were sloppy feeling in the corners and would spin very easily. Horrible in snow and had poor tread life. The BF G... were decent with good tread life, but still felt terrible when cornering. Almost as if the sidewall was going to collapse. Figuring that and sort of decent "feeling" tire was right out the window for the econobox, I figured I'd go just for treadlife. I run snows in the winter now, so I don't care about snow traction. Kuhmo KR22s seemed like the perfect match. 100,000 treadlife warranty on 800AB rubber at an excellent price. I have a few friends that own Kuhmo KH16 and KR21 and say that they are solid but not spectacular, so I gave these a shot. I'm very much pleasantly surprised with their performance. They outhandle any of the other tires I have put on this car BY FAR. It still feels bad compared to my VW R32, but I feel that these are a lot more predictable and do not scare me like the BF Gs... did. I only rated the Corning stability and Steering Responsiveness as "7", but this is because they are an ECONOMY tire. Compared to other ECONOMY (not W or Y rated) tires, these feel like 10s. Very little to no squealing when taking a corner fairly aggressively. Sidewall doesn't flex too badly. No spinning when putting the car into 1st at a stop light on a steep hill, unlike the OEM tires. Connecticut received about 7 inches of rain in 2 days last week, and these didn't hydroplane once. I don't push vehicles hard in corners when the roads are wet, but these were well behaved and predictable. Fairly quiet ride, and not at all harsh. And If the tire lasts anywhere near the 100k mile rating, the car will have 250k miles on it before I need to purchase new tires. In summary, I'd highly recommend these, especially considering the outstanding price.
